Novi and Northville Listed Among Top 10 Schools Districts in Michigan

by The Jamey Kramer Group

Top schools districts in Michigan

The famous Niche site has published the top schools in America. We were not surprised that Novi Community School District and Northville Public Schools are among the top ten school districts in Michigan. Novi was ranked number 6, and Northville placed number 10 in the 2018 Best School Districts in Michigan.

In addition, Novi High School captured the number 1 spot in the Best Magnet High Schools in Michigan category and the number 4 spot in the Best Public High Schools in Michigan category.

Every year Niche publishes a list of the top schools in the United States. Using key statistics and millions of student’s and parent reviews, Niche comes up with lists of the best schools in your city, state, and in the United States. If you want to know what private school is rated the best, they have the answer. You do not have to look any further if you want to know what schools have the best teachers, best athletics, or best schools for the arts.

Niche is a small team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that collects data that produces “comprehensive ranking, report cards, and profiles for every K-12 school, college, and neighborhood in the U.S.” Niche takes polls and reviews from over 100 million students and parents.

Why Schools Matter

So, what is the big deal? If you don’t have children when buying a home, what does being a top -rated school really matter? According to Zillow, buying a home in a good school district means that the cost of buying a home will be higher in price. However, it will make a huge difference in resale value.

Zillow also states that it will also protect you from the real estate market ups and downs. Therefore, buying a home in a good school district, regardless if a school personally impacts you, the quality of the district will impact your home value.

Melissa’s Story

In fact, mom of three, Melissa, said that choosing a home in a top-rated school was not only on her list of desires when looking for a home, but it was a must have. Melissa’s family was growing and they needed more space.

When they bought their first home, they knew they were eventually going to have a family. So, they chose to buy a home in a highly ranked school district. When it came time to sell, Melissa’s family was able to sell their home within three weeks on the market. That doesn’t happen for everybody, but the chances of selling, regardless if you have children or not, is higher when your schools are better.

Additionally, when Melissa’s family was ready to buy their second home she stated,

“With three young children at home, their education is a top priority for our family. We cannot even consider a home in a poorly rated school district, even if it means that we will pay a little more for our home.”

When choosing a home, being mindful of the quality of school district is important. Every individual and family will have to take into account their own priorities and what they can afford.

However, if you are interested in moving to the Northville or Novi area, you can rest assured that the school districts are highly rated. This high rating will help the value of the homes in the area, as well as, help with resale value.

If you are interested in buying in the Novi or Northville area, please contact us. We would love to help answer any questions you might have.

4th of July Parade in Northville, MI

The Fourth of July parade has always been a highlight of American celebrations on the anniversary of our Independence Day. Every year, kids, young and old, gather to show civic pride and join in the general festivities of the day and the summer season.

Summer always seems like it has fully arrived when you hear those jets fly overhead or the police sirens coming down the street. The main street of your hometown feels like a new place when you see so many neighbors and friends out altogether.

There’s something magical about the anticipation of the day kicking off with this one event. Whatever is in store for the rest of the day: picnic, beach time, parties, fireworks, campfires... you know it’s all going to be good.

Homemade floats, high school marching bands, color guard, dance teams, sports teams throwing candy or spraying the crowd with water guns, all of the town’s finest policemen and firemen - these are just a few of the highlights awaiting you at Northville’s Independence Day parade.
