This is quite the eventful weekend in Northville, Michigan. From celebrating Independence Day to summer events really taking off, you and your family will be able to enjoy something fun and entertaining.

Northville is a city with a small town feel and big city access. This weekend, Northville is in classic form with all the free events celebrating this year’s Independence Day.

  • First Thursday Experience
    Downtown Shops and Galleries
    July 3rd from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

    This week, Northville's “First Friday Experience” will actually be on Thursday. You will enjoy the best that Northville has to offer in shopping, dining and artistic experience.

  • Northville Independence Day Parade
    Parade begins on the corner of Griswold and Main Street
    July 4th at 10:00 am


    This year, Northville’s Independence Day Parade with be held on the 4th of July. The parade is being hosted by the Northville Community Foundation and this year’s theme is Celebrating America’s Heroes. Heroes to be celebrated are those people we admire for “great or brave acts or fine qualities.” The parade will feature bands, vintage and classic cars, floats, characters and much more.

    The parade will start at 10:00 am sharp when students from Northville High School will sing the National Anthem at the corner of Griswold and Main Street. The parade will continue on Main Street to Rogers to Cady to Wing to Fairbrook St. and ends at Fairbrook and Center St.  For a downloadable map of the parade, please see: 4th of July Parade Route.
     
  • Mill Race Village Independence Day Activities

    July 4th, 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm


    If you are looking for activities after the Northville Independence Day Parade, Mill Race Village has that taken care of for you. At the Mill Race Village, you and your family will enjoy what Independence Day was like in the early 1900s. Bring a picnic lunch and explore the village.
     
  • Eclipse Base Ball
    Ford Field
    July 4th, Noon


    If the Mill Race Village isn’t where you want to spend lunch time, head over to Ford Field to watch Northville’s Eclipse Base Ball Club play base ball. Vintage base ball is considered a gentlemen’s sport with no swearing, no spitting, no sliding and no playing gloves as it was played in the 1860s.
     
  • Friday Night Concert
    Town Square
    7:00 pm


    After all of the day’s events, bring a lawn chair and head over to Northville’s Town Square and enjoy this week’s Rhythm and Blues music played by the Bugs Beddow Band. You can enjoy free Friday Night Concerts all summer long.
     
  • Sundays at Mill Race Village

    From now until October, be sure to put Mill Race Village on your list of things to do and see this summer. From 1 pm - 4 pm, the whole village is open to the public. Costumed guides will be present to tell you and your family all about the buildings and Northville’s past.
