How to Increase the Value and Marketability of Your Home

How would you like a free concert in the town square?

Do you like supporting local farmers at a farmers market?

When you think of where you want to live, where you want to finally settle down, where you want to buy your house, what do you want?

  • Great schools for the kids or future kids?

  • A place you can feel safe?

  • How about a great community?

Today, I want to share with you about one city that offers all of those things, Northville, Michigan. Northville is one of my favorite cities in all of Michigan. There is a great community feel, low crime and great schools.

Northville, Michigan Local Activities

Northville, Michigan is one of those cities that have a strong, tight knit and family friendly community. It reminds me of the city, Stars Hollow, from the television show Gilmore Girls. There are always fun and unique events for the community to participate in. Here are the upcoming events for this weekend.

Northville Farmers Market

On Thursday, August 1st, you can head over to the Northville Downs at corner of 7 Mile and Sheldon Roads for the Northville Farmers Market between 8 am and 3 pm. This event is hosted by the Northville Chamber of Commerce each Thursday through October 31, 2013. For more details, please see the chamber’s website at: www.northville.org/Events_Calendar/Content/Farmers_Market/.

Buy Michigan Now Festival

The Buy Michigan Now Festival in downtown Northville is a weekend long festival in celebration of the state’s annual Buy Michigan Week. According to the Northville Downtown Development Authority, “This family-friendly event includes tasty treats, street vendors, live music, and children’s activities, all highlighting Michigan-based businesses and Michigan-made products.”

Admission and parking are free. Children’s activities include a Kid Zone on North Center Street with games, arts and crafts, contests and more.

Festival Dates and Times:

Friday, August 2nd, 12 pm – 9 pm

Summer Friday Night Concert

Low Crime Rates in Northville

When searching for a home, you want to feel comfortable putting roots down. Northville is a well established community with low crime rates keeping you family safe.

According to Trulia.com, Northville also boasts some pretty impressive numbers when it comes to crime. Less than 2.5 percent of Northville’s population is affected by property crime and less than 1 percent of Northville’s population is affected by violent crimes.

Northville’s Great Schools

Trulia.com also reports that in 2011, the students of Northville Public School District scored higher than the state average in every subject in the MME test.

If you are unfamiliar with the MME test, it is an acronym the stands for Michigan Merit Exam. It provides students with a free ACT college entrance exam. That is right. Students who receive the score they want through the MME test don’t have to pay for the ACTs.

If you would like to read more about the MME visit the Michigan Department of Education’s Michigan Merit Exam [PDF].
