Earth Day

Novi, Michigan has been working hard to go green this spring by providing free information on their website and hosting several events. This Saturday, Earth Day comes to Novi.

While April 22nd is the date that is celebrated as Earth Day globally, the City of Novi is dedicating May 9th to celebrate. This year, the City of Novi, along with MSU Extension Tollgate, is hosting another tribute to the world around us. Plan to come on Saturday to help with mulching, weeding, planting trees, and more.

Novi All Season Farmer’s Market

According to the Novi Farmer’s Market Facebook page, over 600 people showed up to the opening day of the Novi Farmer’s Market. In an article by Hometown Life, RosaAna Twitchell, the market manager, states that these gatherings are a great place to give residents a variety of healthy and locally sourced foods, and a place to become more educated about the foods we love.

Oakland County Day at the Detroit Institute of Art

This Saturday, May 9th, don’t miss out of the FREE ride to the Detroit Institute of Art. Oakland County residents can choose from 6 different pick up points and one of them is in Novi.

According to the City of Novi’s website, you will be able to enjoy browsing the Detroit Institute of Art’s collection and participate in a free drop-in art making workshop.

General admission for the museum is free for Oakland County residents. Reservations for free bus transportation are required. You may register by calling 313-833-4005 or online at

Bike to Work Day

On May 13th, you may notice a few more bikes on the road while driving in Novi, Michigan. That is because it is Bike to Work Day. Meet your fellow bikers at Performance Bike in the Novi Town Center at 7:45 am to have your picture taken. Registration ends tomorrow May 8, so make sure to register today.

Civilian Pistol Safety Class

  • 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Novi Police Department Training Center
  • Novi, Michigan

If you are looking to obtain your Michigan Concealed Pistol License, this class offered by the Novi Police Department fulfills both the classroom and shooting requirements.

Students are required to bring their own equipment including:

  •  A personal handgun,
  •  100 rounds of ammunition
  •  Safety glasses
  •  Shooter’s earmuffs or ear plugs
  •  Pen or pencil
  •  Baseball Cap
  •  Appropriate loose comfortable clothing
