The city of Northville, Michigan, is a friendly and welcoming community, home to 5,970 people, according to the 2010 census.

Parks and Recreation

The City of Northville, together with the Charter Township of Northville, a Northville Board of Education member, and a residents’ advisory commission, manage the area’s Parks and Recreation Department.

Parks and Recreation administers a host of activities, educational programs and aquatic and fitness classes in addition to numerous facilities, gymnasiums and community centers. It also manages the Northville Senior Adult Services Program.

There are five community parks in Northville:

Some of the recreation classes, programs and activities offered through Parks and Recreation include youth athletics such as baseball and soccer; adult activities, such as badminton and softball; athletic classes and programs designed specifically for seniors; and group and private swimming lessons.

The City of Northville is quite proud of its Historic District and does a wonderful job maintaining, restoring and preserving the stately beautiful homes and buildings, many of which are museum-quality models of magnificent Victorian-era architecture.

Northville Public Schools is responsible for providing public education to the community. It accomplishes this task through a half-dozen elementary schools, two middle schools and a senior high school.

The hospitals and medical centers located near Northville include St. Mary Mercy Hospital, located about seven miles away in Livonia; Botsford Hospital, about eight miles away in Farmington Hills; and Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, located about ten miles away in West Bloomfield.

Northville is located near several main highways, including the confluence of Interstates 96, 275 and 696 and Michigan Highway 14. Also, the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) provides a free carpool matching service, RideShare, linking commuters with several southeastern Michigan communities.
