City of South Lyon

Founded in 1832 under the name of Thompson's Corners, the city of South Lyon continues to provide it's residents with the charm and feel of a midwest small town with all of the added benefits of today's modern society. Incorporated as a city in 1930, South Lyon is well known for it's vibrant community life and it's annual festivals such as the South Lyon Pumpkinfest.  Located in the southwest corner of Oakland County, the 3.5 square mile city of South Lyon is only minutes south of I-96 or US-23. With a current population of 11,722 residents, South Lyon offers a blend of retail, commercial, and manufacturing industries as well as great schools and city parks. 

Lyon Township

Named after Michigan legiator Lucius Lyon, Lyon Township was  founded in 1832 and chartered in 1980, Lyon Township covers 32 square miles and has a current population of 18,114 residents.  An article published in May of 2016 named Lyon Township the fastest growing community in Oakland County. The writer stated,

"Growth in Lyon Township was 5.16 percent for the year, or 889 new residents for the township in the southwest part of the county that has experienced several years of torrid growth."

Lyon Township is home to a variety of businesses, as well as an abundance of recreational venues including six golf courses, parks, and pedestrian and bike trails.  Proximity to expressways, retail shopping and an award winning public school system are added pluses.
